UP receives criticism because it is not in the top 25 universities in Southeast Asia 2018

After not being in the list of top 25 universities in Southeast Asia 2018, the University of the Philippines (UP) is now in the midst of criticism and ridicule from netizens.
A university must meet the following requirements (shown below) to be in the top 25 list.
– being accredited, licensed and/or chartered by the appropriate higher education-related organization in each country

– offering at least four-year undergraduate degrees (Bachelor degrees) and/or postgraduate degrees (Master or Doctoral degrees)

– delivering courses predominantly in a traditional face-to-face, non-distance education format

Recently, the UP created clamour because of the protest its students conducted against the current administration, where some students walked-out from their classes just to join the rally.

Below are some of netizens’ comment regarding the said issue:

Mon Zumbs: Dapat may ranking na lang para sa pagalingang mag rally para sa karapatan para lumitaw ang UP at iba pang university sa flipland (I suggest, there should also be a ranking for the best rally so that, UP will be included in the list and also the other universities.)

Bonaoy Dp: Mga idiot na kc mga estudyante sa U.P ngaun mga uto-uto na sila ( Students in UP are idiots and gullible)

Julius Castillon: UP? saan ka nakakita ng wlang pasok kasi mag rarally daw cla yung iba sumanib sa NPA (UP? Where can you find a university that suspends classes just to start a rally? The others joined the NPA)

Calalang Barredo: Wala ag UP kc puro rally nsa utak. Mga komunista kc. (UP is not in the list because they always start rallies and also because they are communist)

Zueden Forten: wag na kayu kasi mag expect sa UP. Busy ang mag studyante at mga guro ngayun sa kakarally. Babawiin naman nila next year promise (Don’t expect anything from UP. Students and Teachers are busy in rally. They will just make it up next year)
