Binato ng putik ang bahay! Yolanda victims storm Aquino's residence calling for accountability and justice

A group of alleged Yolanda survivors claimed to have come all the way from Yolanda-struck Samar staged protest outside Former President Noynoy Aquino III’s residence and threw mud as they cry foul over justice and accountability in ‘mismanaged’ rehabilitation program.

The group is holding Aquino and even the current administration reliable for negligence and inconsistency more particularly on housing recuperation as thousands of residents from the Eastern Visayas region had been displaced from their own home when Yolanda hit the country in 2013.

People Surge Spokesperson, Marissa Cabajao, cited that their group is opposing further development of the rehabilitation program by renewing the Standard Housing Contract while many have not yet taken full advantage of the program.

The Aquino Administration was notoriously slammed by many for its sluggish plan of action from having to disregard survivors still living in communal bunkhouses, shanties, and tents even after a 2-year period.

United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons, Chaloka Beyani Beyani cited that only 21% of the rehabilitation phase was accomplished more than a year of the aftermath.

Consequently, on August 2017, there were only 24,000 Housing units occupied out of the 71,629 completed units in contrast with the target of 205,128 to be made available.
