Mga sundalo na tumutulong sa Mayon evacuees, pinagbabaril ng mga NPA!



The NPA (New People’s Army) terrorists made an ambush in Guinobatan, Albay, last Monday (January 22), which left Pfc. Gilno Canuel and some NPA terrorists wounded in the exchange of gunfire.
According to Senior Inspector Malou Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, the personnel of the 83rd Infantry Batallion were waylaid by the NPA rebels while on a military truck heading to Barangay Doña Mercedes in Guinobatan, Albay, to evacuate residents near the Mayon Volcano, which was under alert level 4.

“I am appealing to the NPA to help us bring the evacuees to a safe area,” Cedric Daep of the Albay Provincial Security and Emergency Management Office told a press conference yesterday.

The Army’s 9th Infantry Division is helping evacuate residents affected by Mayon Volcano’s eruption.

Following the incident, a checkpoint was set up by the Guinobatan police officers along the provincial road in Barangay Tinago.

In a press conference on Tuesday (January 23), Cedric Daep of the Albay Provincial Security and Emergency Management Office made an appeal to the NPA to bring the evacuees to a safe area.
