“Ako po ay nalulungkot na for the first time in my career as a senator–mahigit 20 taon na tayo diyan sa Senado-ngayon lang po ako naka-experience na inaatake ng Speaker of the House ang Senado (in my 20 years as a senator, it saddens me to experience and witness for the first time, that a Speaker of the House is attacking the Senate) ” Drilon said.

“Kaya po I am calling on Senate President Pimentel to defend the Senate as an institution of democracy (That’s why I am calling on Senate President Pimentel to defend the senate as an institution of democracy),” Drilon added.

Drillon reiterated that the loss of check and balance are the consquences once the Senate was weakened, that’s why democracy must be defended, regardless on what political affiliation you belong.

“Regardless of one’s political affiliation, the higher obligation of the Senate President is to defend the Senate as an institution of democracy,” he added
