An open letter for Robin Padilla from Jover Laurio, after the Pilipinas Got Talent incident.

Actor Robin Padilla is now trending on social media, receiving mixed comments and reactions from netizens, after he reprimanded a Korean audtionee, Jiwan Kim, of “Pilipinas Got Talent” season 6 because of his lack of Tagalog proficiency, despite the fact that he grew up in Muntinlupa and has been living in the country for most of his life with her Filipino girlfriend.
“Firstly, mag-Tagalog ka muna bago mo ako kausapin, (speak in Tagalog before you talk to me)” Robin told Jiwan.

“Pasensya ka na kasi mayroon akong kakilalang Koreano, si Ryan Bang, na mas magaling pang mag-Tagalog sa akin, (I hope you don’t mind because I know a Korean man, Ryan Bang, who speaks better Tagalog than me)” Robin said.

During an interview at the Sana Dalawa ang Puso presscon, when asked about his conflict with the korean auditionee, the actor said that he did not regret his action.

"Wala akong pinagsisihan. (I don't regret it. When I go to other countries, I try to learn their language – because you're a visitor. You have to be the one to adjust.)” Robin said.

(If you're coming to the Philippines and tell us to speak in English, you're wrong. This is my country. This my country and I'm ready to die anytime for my country.)” He added.

What pushed the buttons of Robin was when Jiwan told the judges that he’s filipino at heart, which Robin appreciated, and has been living in the Philippines for almost 10 years but still can’t speak tagalog.

If you're telling me that you've been here for 10 years and you don't know how to speak Filipino, you have a problem. You cannot tell me that you love the Philippines. He said that he loves the Philippines, he has a girlfriend who is a Filipina, but he can't speak Filipino? I'm not picking a fight with him, I'm just reminding him like a father reminds a son.)”

Meanwhile, a post from Jover Laurio, owner of Pinoy Ako Blog, criticizing the actor’s for his harsh treatment to the korean auditionee, showing some selected video clips of the show and information about what the law says on English language under the Philippine constitution, to express her point.

Jover cited the audition video of a 15-year-old lebanese from the previous season wherein, Robin did not call her attention. And called  the actor hypocrite.

Ipokrito mo lang di ba?(How hypocrite. You called the attention of the korean guy who doesn’t speak tagalog but you did not call the attention of the 15-year-old lady from the previous season “ Jover said.

That question was raised to Robin during the presscon of “Sana Dalawa ang Puso” wherein he explained their difference.

He's been here for 10 years. If we Filipinos don't learn to be patriotic, then let's not ask for change.)” Robin said.
(If we continue to be a slave to foreigners, it's up to you. But I won't allow myself to be a slave to foreigners in my own country. That won't happen. I'm the king here because this is my country.)” Robin added.

"Mayabang ka talaga no? Luh, grabe sya oh." Jover said.

Jover added.
